lagos state university, as aspirants and numbers candidates seeking admission into the Lagos State University, Ojo, is rapidly decreasing, following the raise of Lagos state university school fee.

However, yesterday being The 18th of june 2012, Latest news reaching us from the lasu, is that students who wrote the 2012/2013 post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, about 3,000 candidates came for the examination.

Although, the post utme examination which, under normal circumstance, used to hold for one week in previous years for all candidates seeking admission into lasu, was conducted in 1 day!
You should also be aware that the 1 day was yesterday, Monday 18 june 2012.

The number of candidates that used to sit for similar examination in the last four years fluctuated between the figure of 15,000 and 20,000 candidates.
Aspirants, Students and candidates who describe this latest development, said that the raise in tuition which began at the beginning of the 2011/2012 academic session.

There students also gave reasons that the raise in the fees had scared away prospective candidates and aspirants who could not afford to pay the huge tuition fee which the school has impose.

Here Are Some Reviews From Students, Aspirants and Prospective Candidates Of Lagos State University.

A student of the university, Solomon Daniel
said this:
The university community usually witnessed an increase in students and there are always traffic jams whenever the post utme was conducted.
He further stated that, the scarce number of candidates taking the examination generates from the astronomical increase in the raise of tuition of lagos state university.
However, the campus marshals and security outfit, who usually had hard time controlling the crowd and traffic in previous years.
But now, (which was yesterday, monday 18th june 2012) candidates’ turn out is low, and you wouldn't blame the candidates.
You will notice, that last year, up to 5,000 people were offered undergraduate admission but due to the high raise in tuition fee, not more than 1,000 students accepted the admission offer.
So, if the management board and lasu senates, don't do anything about the tuition fee, lasu future will be just like we post above, because the fees are just beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians.
Just think of this, how can you see an average students paying N348,000
[Three Hundred And Forty Eight Thousands Naira]
in a state-owned institution.
While, the lowest fee is paid by non-science based faculties, and the whooping sum is N190,000.
[One Hundred And Ninety Thousand Naira]

Describing This issue, an aspirant of the institution, Oluwatoyin Baiyewu, who is writing the lasu post utme examination for the third time in a row, expressed optimism that she might be offered admission this year because of the few number of applicants writing the exams.
Baiyewu stated that'
I wrote the examination on Day Three of the exercise 2011 and students, aspirants turn out, which is a number of their population was so large compared to what i am seeing now.
This increase in lasu tuition fee has caused this huge decrease in population, because not everybody can afford to pay such an amount.

Further More, another Aspirants, that goes by the name of Albert Temitope relayed that she was not aware that lasu tuition had been increased before she chose lagos state university, as her university of first choice.

Also a student, who want to be simply identified as Ade, said that the reduction in the number of students seeking admission into the university commence during the beginning of this session.

However, the lagos state university has not yet released the number of students, candidates who sat for the post tune examination.

Currently, we have not got any reply from lagos state university Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sola Fosudo, as he was not in his office currently.
